The reality

What we hear every week.

The frustrations behind why businesses search for starlink for business in the first place. If any of these feel familiar, the fix is straightforward.

🤔

Not sure if Starlink is right for your business

Starlink marketing emphasises the strengths; nobody talks honestly about when FTTP or leased line is the better choice. We do.

🏭

Industrial estate stuck with terrible connectivity

Some UK industrial estates have inexplicably poor broadband — FTTP not enabled, FTTC slow, leased-line lead times measured in months. Starlink works around it.

🚛

Multi-site businesses with inconsistent coverage

A multi-site UK business with FTTP at five sites but no viable fibre at the sixth — Starlink fills the gap so the whole estate has consistent connectivity.

💼

DIY Starlink deployments that don't fit the operation

Plugging a consumer Starlink kit into a domestic router doesn't deliver business-grade connectivity. The install, the integration and the ongoing management matter.

How it works

How Telexico deploys Starlink for UK businesses

Telexico is a UK managed infrastructure provider — we deploy Starlink as one option among several (alongside FTTP, leased lines, 4G/5G, traditional broadband). For each business we honestly assess: what's the operation, what's available at the address, what's the budget, what's the resilience requirement, what's the timeline. Where Starlink fits, we handle Business-tier procurement, professional installation, integration with the wider Telexico-managed network (VoIP, WiFi, failover policy), and ongoing 24/7 UK support. Where Starlink doesn't fit (most urban full-fibre-enabled addresses, most stable office operations), we say so.

What you get

The Telexico approach to starlink for business.

Six things our customers consistently tell us matter.

🎯

Honest fit assessment

We tell you whether Starlink is the right answer for your address and operation — sometimes it isn't, and we'll say.

🛰️

Business-tier hardware

Proper Starlink Business antenna and service plan — not the consumer kit.

👷

Professional UK install

Mast or roof mount with proper grounding, weatherproof cable runs, indoor placement designed for your operation.

🔗

Integration with VoIP, WiFi, failover

Starlink feeds a managed router that handles VoIP QoS, VLAN segregation, failover to/from terrestrial connectivity.

🛡️

24/7 UK monitoring and SLA response

We monitor; we respond. Real engineers on real SLAs, not call-centre tier-1.

🔗

Bundle with the rest of your infrastructure

One provider for Starlink, phones, WiFi, AI receptionist — one bill, one support number.

Consultative, not commodity

Built around UK business operational reality

We don't push Starlink at every business — we deploy it where it's genuinely the right tool. That means: rural addresses without viable FTTP, failover for businesses that can't afford the downtime of a single connectivity path, temporary sites that need to be live in days, multi-site estates with one or two awkward locations. For everyone else, FTTP or leased line is usually better. Honest matters — businesses remember when a provider helped them avoid spending money they didn't need to.

Real examples

How it works for businesses like yours.

Three real-world setups we deliver across the UK.

🌾

Rural and agricultural businesses

Farms, rural hotels, country pubs, equestrian businesses, rural offices — Starlink where the ground network can't reach. Often the only viable option for cloud-EPOS, hosted phones and modern operational tools.

🔁

Critical-operations failover

Manufacturers, e-commerce, healthcare, hospitality — Starlink as the diverse-path backup that doesn't share Openreach infrastructure with the primary connection. Genuine connectivity redundancy.

🏗️

Project and temporary sites

Construction site offices, festivals, pop-up retail, temporary commercial — operational in hours with Starlink Roam, removable when finished. No civils, no contracts longer than the project.

🛍️

Rural retail and hospitality

Village shops, farm-shops, country pubs, hotels and restaurants in semi-rural locations where FTTC barely runs and FTTP is years away. Starlink delivers card payments, hosted phones, EPOS, and guest WiFi reliably.

📺

Broadcast and live events

OB trucks, sports events, outdoor festivals, conferences in remote venues — Starlink Maritime/Mobility tier delivers the upload bandwidth needed for live streaming and remote production.

🚜

Industrial-fringe sites

Warehouses, distribution centres, recycling plants, manufacturing units on the edge of industrial estates where FTTP rollout missed and leased-line civils are uneconomic. Starlink as primary or paired with FTTC.

🏥

Multi-site healthcare and veterinary

Branch clinics, satellite veterinary practices, rural pharmacies — connectivity that supports clinical systems, electronic prescriptions, telehealth and PCI-compliant card payments.

🛰️

Multi-site resilience for chains

Hospitality groups, retail chains, professional services franchises — fit Starlink at the awkward 10% of locations where FTTP isn't viable. One managed connectivity layer across the whole estate.

What is Starlink Business?

Starlink for business, explained without the SpaceX hype.

Starlink Business is SpaceX's commercial satellite internet platform designed for organisations needing high-speed connectivity in locations where traditional fibre infrastructure is unavailable, delayed, or operationally unsuitable.

Unlike traditional broadband services, Starlink uses low-earth-orbit satellite infrastructure to deliver internet connectivity directly to business premises via a professionally installed satellite terminal. Typical UK performance is 100-300Mbps download, 10-25Mbps upload, with 25-50ms latency — well within the range that voice, video and cloud applications handle comfortably.

The Business tier (versus consumer Starlink) provides priority bandwidth allocation, business support, professional-grade hardware options including high-performance and flat antennas, and contractual terms suitable for commercial use. The kit itself is engineered for permanent business installation — mast-mounted, roof-mounted or wall-mounted with weatherproof cabling and proper grounding.

When Starlink isn't the right choice

Where Starlink isn't the answer — and we'll say so.

Starlink is not automatically better than fibre broadband or leased lines. In many urban office locations with reliable FTTP availability, traditional fibre remains the better primary connectivity option due to lower latency, lower monthly cost, and greater long-term stability.

Telexico assesses every site honestly and recommends Starlink only where it genuinely improves operational resilience or solves infrastructure limitations. Specifically, Starlink probably isn't your best primary connectivity when:

  • FTTP is available at your address — full fibre via Openreach, CityFibre or Virgin Media is usually faster, lower-latency, cheaper monthly, and more stable than Starlink.
  • You need a leased-line-grade SLA — Starlink doesn't yet match the contractual restoration windows of dedicated leased lines for mission-critical operations.
  • Your operation runs latency-sensitive systems — high-frequency trading, real-time medical imaging, professional gaming, broadcast control. Starlink's 25-50ms is fine for video conferencing but not for these.
  • You're cost-sensitive and have decent FTTC — Starlink Business runs £75-150+/month; FTTC business broadband can be a third of that with adequate performance for many small operations.
  • Your roofline can't see the sky — Starlink needs a clear view of the northern sky. Tall buildings nearby, valley locations or heavily-treed sites may not work.

When we audit a site and Starlink isn't right, we say so — and recommend FTTP, leased line, FTTC or 4G/5G failover instead. The honest assessment is the whole point.

Starlink as business failover

Starlink as resilient backup connectivity.

One of the strongest business use cases for Starlink in the UK is failover resilience — particularly for businesses already on FTTP or leased line who need a backup path completely independent from Openreach infrastructure.

Because Starlink operates over satellite, it provides true infrastructure diversity. A regional Openreach outage, civil-engineering damage to a local cabinet, or a localised power event affecting telecoms infrastructure has zero impact on Starlink connectivity. For businesses where uptime matters, Starlink-as-failover is increasingly the standard architecture.

Telexico deploys Starlink alongside FTTP, leased lines and business broadband with automatic failover routing through managed enterprise networking equipment. Starlink can be configured as primary connectivity (rural sites, no-fibre locations), as secondary failover (urban offices with FTTP primary), or as part of a multi-WAN SD-WAN architecture (sites with mission-critical uptime needs).

Combined with 4G/5G failover SIMs, this creates three independent connectivity paths to the same business: terrestrial fibre + mobile network + satellite. The probability of all three failing simultaneously is vanishingly small.

Starlink + business infrastructure

Starlink integrated with VoIP, WiFi, CCTV and AI.

Starlink performs best when integrated into a professionally managed business network rather than installed as a standalone consumer internet connection plugged into a domestic router.

Telexico combines Starlink with the full business technology stack — hosted VoIP, managed WiFi 6, VLAN segmentation, CCTV infrastructure and AI receptionist services. The result is a stable operational environment rather than a consumer internet line.

The technical integration matters more than people realise. Starlink feeds into a business-grade managed router (MikroTik, Draytek or Cisco) which then handles voice QoS so VoIP calls stay clean, VLAN segregation so guest WiFi can't reach the EPOS network, failover policy if a secondary connection is present, and PCI-compliant traffic segregation for card payment systems. Plugging Starlink into a consumer router skips all of this.

Starlink for different industries

Where Telexico deploys Starlink for UK business.

Common Starlink deployment patterns by business type — based on real Telexico installs across the UK.

🏨

Hotels and hospitality

Rural and semi-rural hotels with poor FTTP availability. Starlink Business as primary with 4G failover for guest WiFi and PMS connectivity.

🏗️

Construction and temporary sites

Site office connectivity at greenfield construction projects. Live within days, contract duration matches project length, moves to next site when finished.

🌾

Agricultural and rural businesses

Farms, equestrian centres, rural retail, country pubs. Where FTTP isn't viable and FTTC is too slow, Starlink delivers usable business connectivity.

🏭

Warehouses and industrial units

Industrial estates with poor connectivity infrastructure. Starlink works around the lack of fibre, FTTC limitations, or leased-line install delays.

🐾

Veterinary and healthcare clinics

Rural veterinary practices, mobile clinics, telehealth-dependent operations in fibre-poor areas. Starlink supports cloud patient records and telehealth video.

🛍️

Multi-site retail chains

Filling the connectivity gaps where one or two sites in an otherwise FTTP-covered estate have no viable fibre. Consistent multi-site experience under one provider.

🎬

Live events and media production

Pop-up events, outdoor broadcasts, festivals, mobile media operations. Rapid deploy connectivity that doesn't require permanent infrastructure.

🚛

Transport and logistics depots

Distribution depots in industrial estates with poor connectivity. Starlink as primary or as failover for FTTC, keeping WMS and dispatch systems live.

🏛️

Listed buildings and heritage sites

Where physical cable installation is restricted by conservation requirements, Starlink (with planning-compliant mounting) avoids excavation and external cabling.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

When is Starlink the right choice for a UK business? +

When FTTP isn't viable at the address, when you need disaster-recovery connectivity physically diverse from Openreach, when you need a site live in days rather than weeks, or when your operation specifically requires both terrestrial and satellite paths. For most urban offices with available FTTP, Starlink isn't the right primary connection.

Is Starlink reliable enough for business use? +

Business-tier Starlink with priority bandwidth is broadly reliable in the UK now, with most users seeing single-digit-percent downtime annually. Reliable enough as a primary in rural/no-fibre locations; very strong as a failover or secondary path. Not yet a like-for-like replacement for leased line in mission-critical operations.

Can we integrate Starlink with our existing phones and WiFi? +

Yes — that's exactly what we do. Starlink feeds into a managed router that handles VoIP QoS, VLAN segregation for guest WiFi, EPOS, and IoT, plus failover policy if you have a second connection. Same kit and approach as for any other Telexico install.

How does pricing compare to fibre? +

Starlink Business is typically more expensive monthly than equivalent-speed FTTP where FTTP is available. At addresses without FTTP, Starlink is often cheaper than the alternatives (4G mast, fixed-wireless from a wisp, or leased-line civils to bring fibre in).

What about latency for video conferencing? +

Starlink latency in the UK is typically 25-50ms — fine for video conferencing, fine for VoIP. Higher than the 5-15ms of fibre, but comfortably within the range that voice and video apps handle well.

Can you install Starlink at a listed building? +

Yes — we work within the conservation requirements. Mast placement may need planning consideration; we handle the survey and any required permissions. Roof and chimney mounts are usually feasible without consent for non-listed buildings.

Where are Telexico's offices? +

64 Chapel Ash, Wolverhampton WV3 0TT. UK company, UK engineers covering the country, UK support. Founded and headquartered in Wolverhampton.

What is Starlink Business? +

Starlink Business is SpaceX's commercial satellite internet platform designed for organisations requiring high-speed connectivity in locations where traditional fibre infrastructure is unavailable, delayed or operationally unsuitable. Uses low-earth-orbit satellites to deliver internet directly to business premises via a professionally installed satellite terminal — typically 100-300Mbps download, 10-25Mbps upload, 25-50ms latency in the UK.

Does weather affect Starlink? +

Rarely in any meaningful way. Heavy storms can cause brief 5-30 second outages; snow on the dish (Starlink has heating) can briefly affect signal until self-clearing. Day-to-day rain, cloud, wind: no impact. Annual weather-related downtime typically under 0.5% — comparable to other connectivity types.

Can Starlink support VoIP phone systems? +

Yes. Starlink latency (25-50ms in the UK) is well within VoIP tolerance. We always route VoIP traffic through a managed router with QoS prioritisation when deploying Starlink so voice quality stays consistent. Particularly common as primary connectivity for rural offices replacing legacy ISDN, and as resilient failover for urban offices keeping VoIP live during fibre outages.

Can Starlink support business CCTV systems? +

Yes — and it's commonly used for rural site CCTV where no fixed-line internet is available. CCTV cloud upload typically needs 5-20Mbps upload per site, which Starlink delivers comfortably. We integrate Starlink with Hikvision NVR systems and mobile alerting for remote site monitoring.

Can Starlink support multi-site businesses? +

Yes. Common multi-site Starlink deployment: 5 main sites on FTTP, 1 rural site on Starlink — all centrally managed by Telexico under one account. Or: Starlink as failover backup at every site so multi-site operation never drops a location during a regional Openreach outage. Centralised management, consistent network architecture across sites regardless of underlying connectivity type.

Can Starlink integrate with business WiFi? +

Yes. Starlink feeds a managed router which then connects to your WiFi access points — typically WiFi 6 mesh APs for business-grade coverage. We design the network so Starlink connectivity, business WiFi, VoIP, and CCTV all work as one managed system rather than a consumer Starlink kit plugged into a domestic router.

How long does Starlink installation take? +

Typical Telexico install: 1-2 days from delivery to fully operational. Includes mast or roof mounting, weatherproof cable run, indoor placement, managed router setup, network integration, and post-install testing. Compare to 30-90 working days for leased line install or 14-45 days for FTTP — Starlink is the fastest business connectivity install available in the UK.

Can Starlink be used for temporary or construction sites? +

Yes — this is one of Starlink's strongest use cases. Construction sites, festivals, pop-up retail, emergency response, temporary offices. We deploy Starlink on construction sites with rapid setup and contracts that match project duration. The same terminal can move to the next project when the current one finishes.
